GDPR only legalized data collection!
Don't take my word for it, just look for how many "vendors" you are forced to agree with when accessing almost all websites. Add to this G**gle analytica and FB pixel and there you have it!
Full, "legal", consented huge data collection and aggregation tracking the shit out of everyone for what?

The Xperia phones are often horrendously locked down and don't provide bootloader unlocks all the time.
I would definitely recommend a Pixel device if you're going to go De-Googling. That, or go select your desired ROM beforehand and buy whatever they support the best. You can find out if you look into Graphene or Calyx or Lineage as examples for which devices they support the best right now. Removed Comment For a good reason. Pixels are currently the only phones besides iPhones with proper hardware security. Only Pixels support hardware memory tagging, have a secure element ([Titan M2](https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2018/10/building-titan-better-security-through.html)) that supports the [Android StrongBox](https://developer.android.com/privacy-and-security/keystore) and [Weaver API](https://grapheneos.org/faq#encryption), [insider attack resistance](https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2018/05/insider-attack-resistance.html) and [hardware key attestation](https://developer.android.com/privacy-and-security/security-key-attestation). They also have a programmable USB controller, that allows you to fully disable any USB data connections while the OS is running. Removed Comment I know very well the difference, when I say that privacy is an illusion in the network. In the same moment when you go online, conecting to sites which are not your owns, they know what you are doing and from which site you came.
More people are confused what means browsing in anonymity mode in their browser, they think that with this they are Anonym online, but it's wrong, because this mode only delete the local storage, for webs which want to profile and track you it's irrelevant if you are in normal or anonymity mode.
All what you post online is públic visible, your mail direction is an unique identification which can be tracked easily in the whole web. Even in this moment a Google Bot is reading your posts in Lemmy and in every other SN and blog, very possible that it even know who you are if you had in the past an account.
You are not invisible in the network and because of this there also isn't a real privacy nor anonymity. Fact. by @Zerush@lemmy.ml reason: Duplicated comment

Removed Comment > Mobile Fennec (or pick your poison for any Firefox fork)...
I can't get behind Android Firefox/Gecko-based due to their lack of security:
> Avoid Gecko-based browsers like Firefox as they're currently much more vulnerable to exploitation and inherently add a huge amount of attack surface. Gecko doesn't have a WebView implementation (GeckoView is not a WebView implementation), so it has to be used alongside the Chromium-based WebView rather than instead of Chromium, which means having the remote attack surface of two separate browser engines instead of only one. Firefox / Gecko also bypass or cripple a fair bit of the upstream and GrapheneOS hardening work for apps. Worst of all, Firefox does not have internal sandboxing on Android. This is despite the fact that Chromium semantic sandbox layer on Android is implemented via the OS isolatedProcess feature, which is a very easy to use boolean property for app service processes to provide strong isolation with only the ability to communicate with the app running them via the standard service API. Even in the desktop version, Firefox's sandbox is still substantially weaker (especially on Linux) and lacks full support for isolating sites from each other rather than only containing content as a whole. The sandbox has been gradually improving on the desktop but it isn't happening for their Android browser yet.

Removed Comment The problem is that GrapheneOS really, truly, actually is the only way to get even reasonable levels of privacy on a mobile device right now.
That sounds so much like a shill statement, and it seems that way from others too I'm sure. But its true. If you understand anything at all that happens under the hood of an operating system and android in general, GrapheneOS is the ONLY option for actual privacy and security.
