  • There’s an option to speed up generation but it will make it less deterministic, like in it’s 98% the same image but a little different. Also it’s very hard to reproduce the same hard and software generation. That’s the first issue.

The second is: I had examples of images with generation data, that I could reproduce to look 99% like the original and then just updating a single word or part of the training data (different Lora version for example) , switched the person away or their appearance changed a completely. (Imagine a picture of a street and a car is suddenly not there, or it’s blue instead of red). It will make reproducibility not a reliable option. Backgrounds of images are even less reliable than the focus object.

  • Man, now I even feel a bit bad for them. C:S2 needed that CPU issue fixed, else people would’ve never been happy, it was the biggest issue of the first game and they were right on prioritizing that.

Now with these issues, they simply should’ve got more time and fix them before release, because most consumer probably don’t care how much devs struggled. Their team isn’t that big, so it’s totally understandable that they didn’t switch engine.

A lot of features that would have helped, from say the recent Unreal Engine feature list, are also very new, people shouldn’t forgot that game development starts many years earlier. And you also don’t know if another engine could’ve handled the CPU issue side any better and then C:S2 would’ve been dead from the start.

At least now I’m looking forward to them fixing the LOD issues and this would show them they gambled correctly, although released too early.

  • On Reddit I used to delete every few months but I also shared too many personal details and didn’t want to dox myself. I’ve mostly stopped doing so.

If people know I live in Germany, it’s much different then when I tell them which university I graduated in which year and my current employer or home town. You never know what comment made someone enraged and wanting to hunt you down. Sometimes something like talking about health issues anonymous can be helpful, but bad if it’s used to dox and blackmail you in real life.

People are crazy out there. I don’t think I’ve shared nearly enough in Lemmy yet to make myself searchable. (Please don’t try. lol)

It’s not about being an important person in real life, it’s about not wanting to bring maniacs home. It costs me almost zero time to do that little of creating a new account.
